Coach CPD

SSA’s Technical Director has produced a CPD programme which all our coaches are invited to attend. The monthly workshops include: session planning, technical, tactical & psychological content, and a 1-2-1 syllabus.

We encourage our coaches to complete regular training and qualifications to keep up to date with new regulations, and gain a breadth of knowledge on latest techniques and philosophies involved in football coaching. We also encourage our coaches to join the FA Licensed Coaches’ club who provide professional recognition at every level through their development.

Benefits of coaching on our programmes include:

  • Access to regular training and free CPD opportunities.
  • Financial support for FA qualifications through our bursary scheme.
  • Appointed mentors to support coach development.
  • Opportunities for paid work through the delivery of 1-2-1s.
  • Additional voluntary and paid coaching positions through our University Up For Sport scheme, supporting schools in the delivery of after-school clubs and the PE curriculum.

All our coaches are CRB checked, and at least one per team has completed their Emergency First Aid and Safeguarding Children qualifications.

Take a look at our coaching opportunities

We have an organic approach to coach recruitment and development. We strongly believe in supporting young people through CPD schemes, mentoring schemes and provision of qualifications in return for commitment to personal growth and development opportunities.

We strive to deliver fun, safe and enjoyable sessions each week, with the focus on player and team development. In order to achieve this we encourage and support our coaches to develop their coaching knowledge, skills and experience through accessing FA qualifications, training workshops and our bespoke CPD programme.
